I live a low maintenance, high standards lifestyle. As such, I’m looking for the best of the best products. For buy-it-once items, I’m looking for “the one.” For consumables, if I can “Decide Once,” a la The Lazy Genius, I can decrease decision fatigue and do some things on auto-pilot.
Table of Contents
Living a low-maintenance, high-standards lifestyle means choosing products that are both functional and delightful. Here are my go-to items that make daily life smoother and more enjoyable.
🛍️ Life Essentials
Sometimes we have things we just can’t live without.
Owala FreeSip
Move aside, Stanley. This is THE water bottle. You can sip from a straw or chug from the spout in the same place! And the lid locks. And you can carry it around with one finger by using the cute little pop up handle that does double duty when closed to block the button from being pressed while it’s in your bag. It can be put in your bag and not spill! It does great in the dishwasher. It comes in so many cute color combos. Need I go on?
Bath Thermometer
I got this for my daughter’s baths when she was a newborn. Turns out it’s an essential for anybody. The ideal bath is between 99-102 degrees Fahrenheit. This turtle will help you make sure it’s perfect – whether for yourself or a youngster.
💄Beauty & Fashion Favorites
I’m a low makeup casual gal. Most days I work from home in yoga pants and a t-shirt with no makeup. If I do go somewhere, I don’t go all out. These are my standby beauty and fashion items.
Sunscreen Oil
If you hate sunscreen but like facial oils, this will be your new best friend. It feels amazing and a little goes a long way.
Eucerin Q10 Moisturizer
Dare I say that I’ve found it? The One. This is my favorite moisturizer that I’ve ever used. It’s rich and lasting, but not heavy. The anti-aging benefits are just a happy extra. Thank you to Dr. Shereene Idris (YouTube) for convincing me to try this. I’m on my third jar and I have it set up on Subscribe & Save.
Curology Lip Balm
This is the best feeling lip balm stick I’ve ever used. It’s so soft and not sticky. And you can use it one handed because of the unique design. And it comes in different flavors – my favorite is the vanilla. This is my go-to day time lip product.
Aquaphor Lip Repair Ointment
This is my nighttime lip mask. I have always loved Aquaphor products, and I only recently figured out that it’s because of the lanolin. Ah, sheep, we knitters love their wool so much.
Stainless Steel Foot File
I will never use another foot file again. If you struggle with rough heels, this is the callus remover you‘ve been waiting for.
Aquaphor Foot Masks
These do not cause your feet to peel, they just instantly make your feet soft. It’s amazing!
RBX Cotton Yoga Pants
I wear yoga pants every single day that I work from home and most other days. These are cotton, so they breathe, which is extremely important if you live in them.
Snoozies Ballerina Slippers
My house slippers are are basically Dorothy’s ruby red slippers and I love them. They come in other colors and there are sequin-less ones, too. Besides the red sequins, I love that they do not have a hard sole but are easier to walk around the house in than socks.
🏠 Home Comforts
Aura Digital Picture Frame
This frame is great! We got one for ourselves and one for each set of grandparets. There’s a companion app that you can use to send photos to the connected frames, and you can sync it with albums in your photo library. I have an album where I put the best of the best photos, and those are automatically loaded onto the frame.
Snuggly Heated Blanket
This heated throw blanket is the definition of cozy. Dotty, my yorkie, loves it, too.
Perfect Heating Pad
Before the above blanket, a got a couple of these heating pads. They are gentle, comfortable, and easy to use. One lives on the floor for Dotty to curl up on whenever she wants.
Tiny Spout Watering Can
I’m an aspiring plant lady. This watering can is great. It’s small, so it’s easy to put somewhere convenient, and the skinny spout makes it easy to water things without drips.
Final Thoughts
These products have become staples in my daily life, combining practicality with a touch of joy. I’d love to hear about your favorite lifestyle items, too!
I also have lists of organizing products, kitchen gadgets, cookbooks, fiction, and non-fiction that are worth it!
