- 1.5 tbsp chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp heavy cream or milk
Fill a 1-ounce microwave-safe jar or small cup with chocolate chips.
Add enough cream or milk so the liquid almost reaches the top of the chips.
Microwave for 10 seconds.
Stir gently with a chopstick, metal straw, spoon handle, or similar tool until smooth, glossy, and uniform in color. Enjoy immediately.
- Type of chocolate: Bittersweet, semisweet, or even milk chocolate chips all work well. Choose what you love.
- Dairy options: Heavy cream is traditional and rich, whole milk creates a slightly thinner sauce. Experiment with your favorite milk, too.
- No re-microwaving needed: keep stirring! You will stir longer than it took to microwave it. The color will be similar to the chocolate chips themselves. If it looks pale and milky, keep stirring.
- Want more? Double or triple the quantities using the same method. Just increase the microwave time proportionately.
- Storage: If you want a sauce, this is best enjoyed right away. If you want an un-fussy truffle, refrigerate and enjoy it with a spoon later.
